I am a sucker for grab bags. Stores can take any of their old, clearance products and put them in a sealed, opaque bag, and I will shell out a handful of cash to find out what’s inside. Recently, I bought two grab bags from Ardene at $4 a piece, and inside I found a ton of winter accessories. It worked out to around a dollar per item, and among them was this soft, chocolate brown scarf. It’s thick, warm, and cozy. However, it’s also very long, and the fringe makes it even longer.
I’ve been looking at buying an infinity scarf this season, but couldn’t find one for the right price that impressed me enough to invest. Since this scarf seemed long enough to wrap around me several times, I decided to convert it into the infinity scarf I’ve been searching for.
First, I removed all of the fringe. Then, I twisted the scarf once and stitched the ends together using a few of the strands. I tied the strands off tightly, wrapped it around my shoulders, and voila! An infinity scarf, for about a buck!
Read MoreI tried out the John Frieda hair colour today, and it turned out great! Before, you can see that I had blonde roots and faded henna, which was uneven and dull. The colour went on easily, and the foam dripped a little bit, but not nearly as much as other foam colours I’ve tried. Now, my hair is soft, shiny and a gorgeous, deep red. I think I’ll pick up a few more boxes of dye while they’re on sale this week at Shoppers Drug Mart!
Read MoreI’m kind of a beauty product junkie. You probably wouldn’t think it to look at me, since I usually wear just a bit of eyeliner and mascara, and some concealer to lessen the appearance of the two scars on my face. However, I’m definitely also the type of girl who will spend the evening ‘playing around’ with makeup and slathering on creams and lotions.
One of the things I’ve been obsessed with recently is BB cream. If you don’t know what these are, BB creams are all the rage in Korea and other Asian countries. They’re part concealer and part skin treatment. I’ve been hemming and hawing about ordering some cream to be imported to Canada, but now I can try it without the fuss with, as the in-store sign said, “CANADA’S 1ST BB CREAM!”
Garnier released a product called Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector, which is their foray into the world of BB creams. I picked up a tube of the Light/Medium cream to try out. The first application made my skin feel soft and smooth, and I noticed that my skin colouration seemed a bit more even. BB creams are supposed to give better and better results the more you use them, so I’m going to continue using the Garnier cream every day, to see if it makes a difference.
I also picked up a box of John Frieda Precision Foam Colour, which was new to my local Shoppers Drug Mart. I’d been using henna on my hair lately, but my boyfriend isn’t too crazy about the smell (though he was more than willing to live with it, since the henna was keeping my hair healthy and shiny); I decided to go back to using more traditional hair colours so that the smell of dye wouldn’t linger so long. I picked up Light Red Brown #6R, which is a bit darker than I’ve been colouring lately (I’m a natural blonde, but a dark, mousy-toned one), but I think the colour looks very promising. Hopefully I won’t feel like a stranger is staring back at me from the mirror!
